Paweł Gołębski
Paweł Golebski, journalist and radio presenter, is the host of the popular program “Good morning in Wroclaw” (Dzien Dobry we Wroclawiu) on Radio RAM. During the pandemic, he and his colleagues described life in lockdown using music from the famous album “Violator” by Depeche Mode.
In unusual circumstances, they recorded 9 songs, from “Enjoy the silence” to “Personal Jesus” and created music videos for each of them. The original idea caught the attention of fans who appreciated their quality and quickly started demanding that the trio should give a concerts.
Waldemar Maszyński
Waldemar Maszyński, a pianist who cooperates with popular artists and original musical projects of various genres, is responsible for the musical arrangements at GMW play Depeche Mode. His portfolio includes concerts with Mesajah, Roger Treece at the Sudecka Philharmonic, the Chillove duo, cooperation with theaters in Poland, radio “Piano Day” with Leszek Możdżer, and even evenings with Argentine tango.
Maszyński combines vintage with modernity. At GMW play Depeche Mode, he looks for the original sounds and patents used by Depeche Mode and integrates them into a contemporary arrangements.
Marcin Wełyczko
A special role in GMW play Depeche Mode’s sound is played by guitarist Marcin Wełyczko, who perfects his craft on the styles of such stars as Steve Vai, Frank Gambale and Allan Holdsworth.
In Depeche Mode’s interpretations, he creates his own guitar riffs for Maszyński’s electronic arrangements and also presents the characteristic solos of Martin L. Gore
THE STORY
From classics to the latest album in various arrangements performed by sensational instrumentalists with the phenomenal voice of a charismatic radio presenter. GMW is an abbreviation of the names known on the market: Golebski, Maszynski, Welyczko.
This unusual trio has selected the best songs from over 40 years of Depeche Mode history and performs them in a style close to the original or completely rearranged them. Their interpretations were appreciated by journalists from Germany, who invited the band to the world album of covers "Songs of faith and devotion", published by Orkus Magazine.
Golebski, Maszynski and Welyczko are also admired by Depeche Mode's most loyal, long-time fans. They performed, among others, at the 30th anniversary of one of the largest fan clubs in Poland in Katowice, at the Lloyd's Factory in Bydgoszcz, Stary Klasztor, at the “Underwater Wroclaw” (Podwodny Wroclaw) festival or Cork in Ireland.
The band performs at chamber concerts and mass events. Musicians can create a unique atmosphere in a vineyard during wine tasting and on a ship on the Baltic Sea. This is confirmed by fans of the famous ferry cruises from Poland to Sweden, who had fun listening to the music played by GMW play Depeche Mode.
